About us
Break Out The Crazy is the songwriting and artist project of Chris Hierro and Katya Diaz — two lifelong creators whose careers are shaped by curiosity rather than category.
Katya’s versatility as a vocalist, performer, and creative collaborator has placed her on some of the world’s most visible stages, including Saturday Night Live, Late Night with David Letterman, Good Morning America, Weekend Today, and international award broadcasts. Her background spans dance, harmony, and performance, with credits ranging from large-scale tours and televised performances to intimate vocal work, including her contributions to Snarky Puppy’s Grammy-winning Family Dinner Vol. 1.
Chris Hierro is a songwriter and producer known for blending modern sensibilities with deep musical roots. His work has earned recognition at the highest levels of the industry, including a Latin Grammy for his production on Cumbiana, as well as nominations for projects he wrote and produced in full.
Having toured the world with numerous artists, he draws on cultural diversity to create his own unique sound.
His catalog reflects an ability to move between worlds — crafting songs that feel both timeless and current, emotional yet intentional.
The two first crossed paths while touring internationally, where long nights of travel and soundchecks turned into shared writing sessions and creative conversations. That connection eventually became Break Out The Crazy — a space where they could follow instinct over formula and write songs without borders.
As a duo, Chris and Katya have collaborated with artists, writers, and producers across genres, contributed music to film and television soundtracks, and lent their voices to projects that span pop, soul, alternative, folk, and rhythm-driven styles. Their work has appeared in global releases, independent films, and streaming originals, always anchored by strong melodies, honest lyrics, and intentional production.
Break Out The Crazy exists to explore what happens when craft meets curiosity — when songs are allowed to pull from many influences while still telling a cohesive human story. With new music on the horizon, the project continues to evolve, guided by the belief that great songs don’t belong to a single lane — they belong to the people who feel them.
